M8 Lagoon Nebula, situated in the constellation Sagittarius. This nebula, located around 4,100 light-years away from Earth. Composed mainly of hydrogen gas, the M8 Lagoon Nebula features a distinctive shape resembling a lagoon surrounded by ethereal clouds of cosmic dust. Its glowing red and blue hues, come from ionized hydrogen and hot young stars. Photographed with a dedicated astronomy CMOS colour camera using a Duo-Band filter in August 2020 from my property in Turondale, NSW, Australia.
