The Small Magellanic Cloud
(SMC) is a dwarf galaxy located approximately 200,000 light-years away from Earth. Despite its relatively small size, it is the fourth closest galaxy to our Milky Way. This galaxy is visible with the naked eye from the Southern Hemisphere. , The Magellanic clouds have long been included in the lore of native inhabitants, including south sea islanders and indigenous Australians.
