NGC 55 The String of Pearls Galaxy

NGC 55

Also known as the String of Pearls Galaxy. Located in the constellation Sculptor, this irregular dwarf galaxy is a member of our Local Group, which includes our very own Milky Way. The name "String of Pearls" accurately describes the appearance of NGC 55, as it is composed of a series of small, luminous knots stretching across the galaxy. These clusters of stars, resembling pearls on a necklace, create a pleasing visual display.
