NGC 2244 The Rosetta Nebula
NGC 2244 Aka the Rosette Nebula, is a stunning celestial object located in the constellation of Monoceros. An emission nebula, spanning approximately 50 light-years across. Resembling the shape of a rose or a floral bouquet hence its name. Within this nebula, young, hot stars emit a brilliant ultraviolet radiation, causing the surrounding hydrogen gas to glow with vivid red hues. These massive stars have also ejected the surrounding gas and dust through their intense stellar winds. I photographed this nebula with a small refractor telescope and cooled colour camera using a duo band filter to capture the HA illumination in March 2023
