NGC 2023 Horsehead Nebula
NGC 2023
Aka the Horsehead Nebula. Pictured here with the Flame Nebula lower left. Located in the Orion Constellation. The horsehead nebula itself is part of the much larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. Its distance from earth is 1375 light-years. Heavy concentrations of dust in this region and the neighbouring Orion Nebula are localised into interstellar clouds, resulting in alternating sections of nearly complete opacity and transparency.
Photographed in January 2022 using my Edge HD telescope with a monochrome camera with LRGB filters.
