M45 Pleiades Star Cluster

M45 Pleiades Cluster

The Pleiades Cluster, also known as M45, is an open star cluster located in the constellation Taurus. This group comprises several hundred stars, with the brightest seven often visible to the naked eye, earning them the nickname "The Seven Sisters." The cluster is approximately 440 light-years away from Earth and is relatively young, with an age of about 100 million years. The Pleiades are particularly notable for their blue colour, which results from the high temperatures of the hot, young stars within the cluster. Observations have revealed that they are surrounded by a faint reflection nebula, which adds to their striking appearance in the night sky.
