The M42 Orion Nebula
Situated in the constellation of Orion, this stellar nursery stands out as one of the most stunning objects in the night sky.
At a distance of approximately 1,344 light-years from Earth, the M42 Orion Nebula is relatively close in cosmic terms. It is a sprawling cloud of gas and dust, spanning an area of around 24 light-years. Pictured to the left is the Running Man Nebula.
