M4 Star cluster in Rho Ophiuchi Region
M4 Globular star cluster
located in the constellation of Scorpius. At a distance of approximately 7,200 light-years, M4 is relatively close by cosmic standards. With a diameter of around 75 light-years, it contains thousands of tightly packed stars that have gravitationally bound together. These stars are believed to be some of the oldest in our galaxy, estimated to be around 12.2 billion years old. Another great example of the beautiful Rho Ophiuchi region.
I photographed this in July 2021 using my F2.2 Hyperstar and a cooled CMOS colour camera
